LO4 - P5: Carry out post production techniques and processes to produce a final orginal media product in line to the client brief

The layout of my double page spread follows the conventions of a magazine, for example the columns, the large letters to start a new paragraph and a bold masthead. I have used mastheads such as "latest trends from the catwalk" this shows the reader what the article is about. The font I used was times new roman, I used this font because it has a tasteful, editorial look to it. The magazine is about different cultures and community's fashion, this therefore meets the brief as it is about "community".

The layout of my front cover is a very minimal, I wanted it to look similar to a vogue magazine. The white background makes the model stand out and adds a high class look to the end product. The font of the magazine (frank rhuel) makes the writing clear and understandable, and once again makes it look like a vogue magazine.

LO4 - M4: Demonstrate how the exported media product meets the client brief

The brief says I have to create a media product for a sixth form media exhibition on themes of inclusion and community.

My fashion magazine shows how cultural community's dress and the top trends in cultural community's. The name of the magazine is culture couture it will have the latest looks from the catwalk and how you can get the high end but also a cheaper alternative. This will be over the double page spread. The magazine focuses on communities and the cultures within them and shows the different types off fashion that are part of different cultures. The finished product my magazine will be exported on is the Adobe InDesign software this is because it is an industry software, therefore my magazine will look of an industry standard. I want to ensure the quality is of a high standard as if the magazine looks un-professional no one will buy the magazine, this is why it is important to use the right software.

LO2 - M2: Legal and ethical issues are identified and resolved for the planned production

Legal and ethical issues I need to consider for my magazine.

For my magazine there are many legal and ethical factors I have to take into consideration. Firstly, I will need to make sure that when I’m photo shopping my model for my magazine she can’t be over air brushed to avoid any ethical issues, as its portraying something that is false and misleading and could be demeaning to other people. This means I will have to stick to the ethical issues Also there are laws I have to take into account such as copy right, to avoid getting sued I will make sure that if I use any images that are not of my own I will receive permission of the copy right holder to use that image. I will be mostly taking the images myself to avoid any copyright issues. I will also have to also think about liable and slander as I can’t use any images or texts that are misleading and could be potentially damaging to another person. I will also have to make sure that any representation of people is fair and not offensive to somebody.

Case study

This is an example of an ethical issue when Kim Kardashian was photo shopped to have better skin a slimmer waist and slimmer legs. This is an example of what I won’t be doing this is unfair to publish as it is portraying a false image as no one is that perfect and vulnerable people such as young girls will aim to look like something that is unrealistic. Also its saying the original photo needed to be changed which could be offensive to women who have a similar shaped body. Its teaching people that they need to look a certain way to fit into society.

I give my consent to participate in Katelyn McDougall’s media magazine as part of the Unit 3 coursework. I am aware that the advert will be uploaded onto a blog. I am aware that my face will be used in the magazine.

I created a consent form for anyone who will be featured in my magazine. This will include any models in the magazine. This meets the legal requirements, as if I want someone's face to be featured in my magazine I will need to have their permission to do so.

LO2 - P3: Develop pre-production materials for an original media product

Gantt chart write up

Marketing methods:

The Gantt chart shows the time period for how long the magazine methods will take. The marketing methods include: other magazines, online, posters/billboards, events and shops. The time period for other magazines will take place over the first 2 months out of a 6-month period, online will be halfway through the 2^nd month and take a month long. Posters and billboards will be halfway through the 2^nd month and last up until the first half of the 4^th month. Events will be happening through the 2^nd half of the 3^rd month and last for month. The method of marketing in shops will be from the 3^rd month to the end of the 5^th month.

Distribution methods:

The Gantt chart for distribution methods shows the methods for distribution include: Online, news agents and local shops. The time period for online distribution will be in the 2^nd half of the 3^rd month and last all the way to the end of the 6-month period. The news agents will be from the 2^nd half of 3^rd month up until the 1^st half of the 6 months. Finally local shops will be from the 4^th month till the 5^th month.

Survey Results

These are the results from my survey answered by 15 people for market research for my magazine. The results show that the most popular age was 18-24 therefore I will be directing my magazine towards young adults. The majority of results for gender showed that females were more popular therefore my magazine is going to be for females. People who done the survey were mostly from the North West so when I am distributing my magazine I will make sure there are more magazine sin that area. Over 90% of people said they were interested in fashion and beauty this helps me as now I know that my magazine is a popular market also 100% of peoples aid they would read a magazine that focuses on cultural fashion. People mostly said that they read between 1-3 and 4-7 magazines monthly this shows that magazines are still popular with people. People said that they are more interested in both fashion and beauty therefore I will make sure that I include some beauty as well as fashion in the magazine. The most popular vote for what fashion magazine would you read was Vogue, these results show that editorial high end magazines are more popular so I will have my layout similar to the Vogue layout. Lastly people said that their favourite cultural inspired fashion was Spanish consequently I will focus my magazine on Spanish fashion.

Models:

My friend will be the model for my magazine, this way it makes the magazine easier to do as we will see each other regularly and I won’t have to pay anyone.

The model will have a close up for the front cover focusing on the top half of the body.
The model will be wearing Spanish themed clothes.
I will be setting up the lighting, doing the makeup and taking the pictures my self

Location:

The location will be somewhere local and easy to access for me and the model. It will most likely be inside against a white background. The best location will be either in school or at home.

Props:

I won’t be using many props for the front cover or the double page spread. The props I will need are:

A chair – for the model to sit on in the shot
iPad/iPhone- To take the picture and create the outfits
App where you can create outfits- To show the clothes you can get for less from the.
Tripod for camera- To make sure I have a steady image
White sheet- For the background so it’s not too much of a bold back ground to take the attention from the model or the clothes on the model.

Poses:

Front cover: The model will have a close up shot focusing on the models eyes and the clothes
Double page spread: Model long shot showing an outfit that is Spanish inspired the rest of the images will be from the app were you create your own looks

Fonts and colours:

I will be using Frank Ruehl font as is formal and looks professional, it’s good for the title as its bold and it will make the magazine stand out and will attract customers. The colours I will be using will be mostly black and white, I will have some bright colours throughout the magazine to make certain images or words pop out. I will use colours such as Red, orange, pink, yellow.
